In 1994, Gary James and George Nunez-the owners of "Warsaw Ballroom" and "The Spot"-the two most successful Miami Beach night clubs at the time-saw the need for a late night private club for Miami Beach's elite to table hop and air kiss. They came to Barrie and his then business partner Christopher to create a room that would be fanciful and posh and oh-so kitch. Club Lua opened to rave reviews and played host to Tara Solomon’s (then queen of Miami nightlife) Martini club.
